Surrounding Arganil – Central Portugal
In the immediate vicinity of Bed & Breakfast Casa Traca there is plenty to do for everyone. Whether you love nature or relax or culture or shopping. There is a true holiday feeling for everyone. If you want (long-distance) walking, cycling, mountain biking or motorcycling then the surroundings of Casa Traca are the ideal base.
You can walk or cycle up the mountain from the fence. The Monte Alto where you will find a beautiful little chapel with its own special story on top. A true legend from the area, read more about it on the page.
Things to do in Arganil
Of course you can also take the forest path to Arganil on this road you cycle safely but most of all very idyllically through the woods to Arganil. The first larger town at Valbona, about 3 kilometers away. Under the heading cycling and motorcycling we have included a link for you to one of the routes that run past Bed and Breakfast Casa Traca.
The area is also known for its many rivers and river beaches, where you can relax in the natural shade of the trees along the banks in the summer. The Rio Alva and the Rio Mondego are the two rivers in the immediate vicinity. A little further away you will find Rio Douro, also known as the wine region. Due to the differences in height in this area and the water-rich area you will also find many waterfalls of different sizes.

One of the most believed things to do and go is Coimbra is easy to do as a day trip from Casa Traca where you have enough time to view this beautiful place at your leisure and to eat well in one of the many restaurants.
Lisbon and Porto are a bit further away but are ideal to combine when you arrive in Portugal or just before you leave Portugal. We can advise you on accommodation in one of the two cities.
